Some Places (and people) Get "IT"!

Do you know the difference between an Air Force pilot and a Naval aviator.  When a USAF pilot takes off he knows that his airport will be exactly where he left it.  When an aviator wants to return to the carrier deck he has to find a small dot in the ocean that is not where it was when he left!  Full timing makes us kind of like the aircraft carrier and our service providers need a way to find us.  Mail forwarding services (Good Sam, Escapees, etc.) provide the ‘radar’ for them to find us!  This full-timing thing is easy when your service providers understand that you are not in a fixed location or can relate the mail address as a fixed location.  Our health insurance provider (Tricare) uses Express Scripts.  They are efficient; I was already able to pick up my ‘maintenance’ supply for one of my meds at a Rite Aid/ Walgreens in New Bedford, MA.
From the pharmacy it was off to spend some quality time with the grandkids!  As we were heading to their house I noticed a ladder truck outside  Acushnet Fire Station 1 had the ladder extended and a flag flying off the end of the boom.
It then hit me that the flag was flying directly over the town’s 9-11 memorial!
To me it is such a show of respect, not only for the loss of life that day but, also for those who continue to have ’skin in the game’ 17-years after the attacks in this country.  If anyone would like to send them kudos you can do it through the link above
I post a lot about things happening in Acushnet, MA, but this town really gets it!

Time with the grandkids is precious because we get so little of it because of the way everyone’s schedule works out.  After hanging around my son Jim’s house for a while entertaining the kids (and the grand puppy) we all went out for lunch together.  Apparently Jim was not hot to go out for lunch but, when we were at Rite Aid his wife, Erin suggested that she would like to go to Max’s in N. Dartmouth.  We knew we were pressed for time since they wanted to get the kids fall clothes after Erin got out of work.  So while we were at Jim’s I asked if they had any plans for lunch.  “Erin wants to go to Max’s”, he says.  So before he can say “but… “, I suggest that Max’s is a splendid idea and we should all go!  Max’s is a small little micro-brew eatery that majors in burgers but today was Taco Tuesday.  I’d like to give a review but they’re tacos!  How much can go wrong!  I don’t know what happened to southeastern MA after I left (in 1976) but hand cut, lightly breaded onion are the new kick here!  Like the onion rings at the Apple-Peach festival the rings at Max’s were great!
From there it was across the street to the Dollar Tree store.  This, by the way, is the only one that lives up to its name!  The Dollar Store and Dollar General both sell things for more than $1.  One of Lori’s hobbies is knits scarves as a way to pass time.  When each scarf is done it gets put into a plastic ziplock for delivery to a local homeless shelter. So at Dollar Tree we bought ziplock bags and some craft items she can use when she does crafts with children at the campgrounds we host at.
From Dollar Tree it was off to Camping World. My galley gray water connection has a hanger downstream of the cutoff valve that supports the connection directly to the chassis.  Basically a clamp around the pipe which is screwed to a metal strap that then gets attached to the chassis with a screw.  I was hoping to find something similar to this and also grab an inboard water filter.  Well, they didn’t have anything close to the strap hanger I did not bring the old filter with me so it looks like a trip to a closer RV shop next time- with filter in hand, or at least in bag.
Our next stop was Walmart so Lori can restock craft supplies for her Kindness Rocks.
It is a small expense that adds a lot to the camping experience and possibly will keep us in the memories of the staff at places we like so that when (if) we reapply we can get in!
Well it’s been a long day but still one more stop.  You guessed it, Lee’s Market for a few provisions.  Have I mentioned that attached to the supermarket is a package store?  Horseneck Beach does not allow alcohol - certainly ‘juice’ is o.k.?
