Thanks, Uncle Sam!

Thanks to the government our vacation may be in jeopardy..  We enjoy tips to Assateague Island, MD. The National Parks Service does a great job in maintaining the park while allowing the ponies t roam free.  For Lori and I this is the most relaxing place we have ever been to.  It starts with the trip there.  It would be about a seven hour tow from our Eastern Connecticut piece of the planet.  Rather than try to make the trip in one day we have a lay over at Naval Weapons Station Earle, the Navy Base in Colts Neck, N.J.  It takes us just under four hours to get there and we can set up and relax for a bit on the first travel day.  The base is loaded with deer.
We set out on the following day for another four hour drive to Assateague.  No trip to the National Seashore is complete without a stop at Medings Seafood.  The food, especially the crab soup, is excellent.  We get to Assateague in early afternoon and have plenty of time to set up.
Thanks to Uncle Sam and the government shutdown Assateague is currently closed.  We sit here waiting to see how this will resolve.  Hopefully in another week I will be waking up with ponies in my campsite

, starting the generator and brewing a pot of coffee.
I look forward to posting this years trip
