First – to all the Marines in the audience - Happy Birthday.
Today was pretty much an idle day . Since I haven’t heard a peep from Joshua Tree in regards to host camping we spent some time cruising Vounteer.gov. We have applied to host camp in four additional locations; Pleasant Valley Pit Campground and Goodale Creek in California, Parker Lake in Arizona and Beaver Lake Project in Arkansas. All look like interesting places to explore and are in warmer climes.
The California opportunities are both Bureau of Land Management sites while Parker Lake is a US Forest Service opportunity.
The Army Corps of Engineers runs the Beaver Lake Project. We have never served one of these organizations and, with the exception of West Thompson Dam, have never stayed at one of their facilities so it will be an education – and an opportunity to spend an extended stay at a quality facility in a quality area
